Colombia
The Environment
Colombia is known for a range of beautiful landscapes including misty mountains, rainforests, deserts, and coastlines. Their coffee, however, is grown at high altitudes along mountain slopes in rich, volcanic soil. Consistent rainfall in the area makes for the perfect environment for growing delicious coffee. Its most famous beans hail from the region known as the "Coffee Triangle" or "Coffee Axis".
The Flavor
Colombian coffee has a reputation for complex yet balanced flavor profiles that many find pleasing to their palates. Prominent notes are chocolatey, sweet, and fruity (apple and red fruits). In general, they have a medium acidty with a smooth, medium body.
Familia Coffee Co's Colombian Roast
Our Organic Colombian roast is a washed processed bean that comes from the Region Bonda and Minca Village which are situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Our beans are grown at an altitude of 1400-1900 meters above sea level and feature three different varieties: Castillo, Arabigo, and Tipica. This roast hosts a medium body with a medium acidity and brings to mind notes of chocolate and orange.
